How to get rid of loctite?
The cured red LOCTITE® product can be removed with a combination of soaking in a solvent and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush. For female threads, a tap can be used to clear the threads instead of a wire brush.
Soak a cleaning rag or cotton ball in pure acetone. If pure acetone isn't handy, try nail polish remover. Press the rag or cotton against the glue until it dissolves. Wipe away thoroughly.
What will dissolve red LOCTITE®? LOCTITE® SF 790 Chisel Paint Stripper or LOCTITE® SF 7601 Equipment Flushing Solvent can be used to soften cured red LOCTITE®. Mechanical abrasion will also be needed to assist with the removal.
If applying heat doesn't work, switch to the chemical release method for better results. Methylene Chloride or WD 40 will offer optimum results.
Alternately, soak the glue in vegetable oil or diluted vinegar. Let it sit for a few hours to allow the glue to moisten. Blot the glue with acetone or rubbing alcohol and let this substance break down the glue. Clear away with a damp cloth.
Super glue can easily be removed from skin or most surfaces with warm soapy water, or for faster results with acetone.
Using gloves, saturate a cotton ball, pad or cleaning rag with acetone or nail polish remover and press against the dried super glue for five to ten minutes, or until the glue starts to soften and become more malleable. Lift.
LOCTITE® blue threadlocker is medium strength threadlocker adhesive. This product cures fully in 24 hours and can be disassembled with hand tools. Blue threadlockers are removable with standard hand tools on 6mm to 20mm fasteners, have fast fixture times, and are available in liquid, stick, paste and gel form.
Fast and easy to use, this heavy duty, high-strength threadlocker sets in just 10 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours. Loctite Threadlocker Red 271 is a permanent solution for locking and sealing threaded fasteners and is only removable once cured by heating up parts to 500°F (260°C).
Heat breaks down Loctite thread lockers, allowing you to loosen and remove fasteners with regular tools. Make sure to use a correctly sized wrench or socket. A tool with a long breaker bar will allow you to apply the right amount of torque.
Can blue Loctite be removed?
Removing threadlocker varies depending on the type you're working with. For Loctite threadlocker blue, simply remove the bolt and nut with normal tools. Loctite Threadlocker Red 271, is formulated to be a high strength thread locker, meaning it will require the localized heat of a blowtorch to weaken the bond.
The liquid adhesive spreads evenly between the nut and bolt and then hardens into a thermoset plastic in the absence of air and presence of metal ions, locking the nut and bolt together and that is how LOCTITE threadlocker works.
Plain acetone works best. Just soak the parts for a few hrs and they are good as new.
The shelf life period for Loctite® products is one year from date of shipment from Henkel facilities or as indicated by package labeling. For optimal storage, maintain product at a temperature between 8°C (46°F) to 21°C (70°F).

Harmful: may cause lung damage if swallowed. Irritating to skin. Vapours may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
Using Too Much Adhesive
Threadlockers are designed to fill small gaps in threads, so a little adhesive actually goes a very long way. Overuse may cause the adhesive to spread beyond the required surfaces. Any threadlocker outside of the curing area, where air is still present, will remain liquid and not cure.
Actually, Loctite threadlockers and retaining compounds do not dry: they cure in the absence of air. This is why they are called anaerobic adhesives. Curing starts when the product is confined between close-fitting metal surfaces. Any excess adhesive outside the assembly, exposed to air, will not cure.
Cured product can be removed with a combination of soaking in methylene chloride and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush. For disassembly, shear with standard hand tools and remove with methylene chloride.

Is Loctite toxic when dry?
Soak in warm water - the adhesive should loosen from the skin in several hours. Dried adhesive does not present a health hazard.
